The IEEE Benelux Chapter on Information Theory organizes a Seminar on Relay Communication on May 27, 2009, in De Zwarte Doos, Eindhoven University of Technology. On this special occasion the contributions of Prof. dr. Edward C. van der Meulen to Information Theory and more specially to Relay Communication will be recognized. Also his role as Founding Father of the Benelux Information Theory Chapter and his efforts as Chairman from 1990 to 2007 will be acknowledged. The Chapter will furthermore show its appreciation to Dr. Ludo Tolhuizen and Dr. Peter Vanroose for their services as Secretary resp. Treasurer from 2002 to 2008.

Prof. Edward van der Meulen (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) will be the honorary speaker at the seminar. Invited lectures will be given by Prof. Nicholas Laneman (University of Notre Dame) and Prof. Michael Gastpar (University of California at Berkeley).
The seminar is scheduled back-to-back with the 30th Symposium on Information Theory in the Benelux that takes place on May 28-29 at the same location.
